Who we are

About the AVCA

The Alta Vista Community Association is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit association representing residents across Alta Vista — one of Ottawa's most established and beloved neighbourhoods.

We've been part of this community for decades, and we're growing with it — building more family-friendly programming, supporting local initiatives, and making sure Alta Vista's voice is heard at City Hall.

Our Mission

The AVCA exists to serve Alta Vista residents in two ways: as a forum where neighbours can connect with each other and with all levels of government on issues that affect their quality of life, and as a facilitator for the community projects and grassroots initiatives that make Alta Vista a great place to live.

Our key areas of focus include city planning, greenspace management, affordable housing, heritage preservation, climate action, local food production, and support for seniors.

Our Neighorhood

Alta Vista is a residential neighbourhood in Ottawa's south end, bordered by Walkley Road, Alta Vista Drive, Smyth Road, and the Rideau River. It's home to thousands of families, several parks and greenspaces, the Alta Vista Farmers Market, and a growing community of newcomers and long-time residents alike.

The Board

Run by your neighbours!

The AVCA is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of Alta Vista residents. The board meets regularly and oversees the direction of the association, its committees, and its programming.

Board members are elected annually at the AVCA's Annual General Meeting (AGM). All residents are welcome to attend.

Interested in joining the board or a committee? We'd love to hear from you.

Governance

The AVCA is a registered not-for-profit organization. Our activities are governed by our bylaws and reviewed annually at the AGM in October.
