There a place for you here
Get Involved
No experience needed. No big commitment required. Just show up!
Three ways to get involved
📬 Stay Connected Sign up for neighbourhood updates and hear about events, news, and ways to get involved. We'll keep it relevant and won't fill your inbox.
🪪 Become a Member Everyone is welcome at AVCA events — but members help shape the future of the association. If you live in Alta Vista, consider joining. Your membership directly supports community programming and neighbourhood advocacy.
💡 Share an Idea Got an idea for an event or project? Know a local vendor who'd be a great fit for the neighbourhood? We want to hear from you.
Join a Committee
Our committees are where the real work happens. Each one is made up of Alta Vista residents who care deeply about a specific part of our neighbourhood.
Whether you have five hours a month or fifty, there's a committee that could use your energy.
Planning & Transportation Committee
Keeps a close eye on city planning decisions, development applications, and transportation issues that affect Alta Vista streets and residents. If you care about how our neighbourhood grows and how we get around, this is your committee.
Seniors Watch Alta Vista (SWAV)
A community care initiative supporting Alta Vista's senior residents. SWAV works to ensure seniors in our neighbourhood feel connected, supported, and never isolated. A deeply meaningful committee for anyone who wants to give back
Greenspace Stewardship Committee
Works to protect, maintain, and enhance Alta Vista's parks and green spaces. If you love spending time outdoors and want to help keep our neighbourhood beautiful, this is a great fit. Partners with the City of Ottawa on greenspace initiatives.
Events Committee
Plans and organizes community events throughout the year, including Alta Vista's Canada Day celebrations and fireworks at Lynda Lane Park. If you love bringing people together and want to help build a more vibrant neighbourhood, this is the committee for you.
